Kenny Shiyou is a life-long resident of the MS Gulf Coast.  He has been familiar with the water his entie life.  He was raised as a commercial fisherman and has shrimped and oystered for over 25 years before acquiring his US Coast Guard 100 Ton Master License. Along with commercial fishing he has always enjoyed recreational fishing.

Kenny is also a part of the Louisiana Cooperative Marine Sport Fish Tagging Program.  This is to improve our understanding of marine sport fish movements, patterns of habitat use, and estimate population size.  Information obtained can be used to evaluate the effects on sport fish from coastal restoration efforts, regulation changes, freezes and hurricanes.  For more information on this please email fishtags@wlf.louisiana.gov.
